                                                               Mission Goals

The major goal of the Tanzania Mission will be to help improve the quality of life for the people who live in and around Same, Tanzania.  The volunteers will work on ongoing projects coordinated by Father Setonga, such as helping  provide medical care, working in schools, conducting seminars for HIV/AIDS victims, drill wells for drinking water, constructing a reservoir and irrigation system, building a medical clinic. We will accomplish these goals through the following activities.

Pre-mission Activities

  • Determine high-priority needs in Same identified by Father Setonga
  • Procure medical equipment and supplies
  • Procure educational equipment and supplies
  • Raise funds for direct support of projects in Same

 Tanzania Activities

  • Carry as much medical and educational equipment as possible directly to Same
  • Work alongside residents on local projects
  • Provide assistance to improve community-wide living conditions based on the individual skills of mission participants
  • Learn about the culture and conditions in Tanzania to identify needs for future projects

 Post-mission Activities

  • Provide information about the mission at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Solon United Methodist Church for Solon and the surrounding communities
  • Assist in efforts to continue the Solon-Africa Connection
